A report from Manufacturers' News Inc. says industrial employment in the Baltimore/Washington region dropped by more than 3 percent in the last year.
The Baltimore Business Journal reports the study says that Maryland lost 6,502 industrial jobs and 258 manufacturers between May 2009 and May 2010.
According to the report, the Baltimore/Washington area is now home to 4,956 manufacturers employing 188,089 workers, according to the report.
MNI's report shows that Baltimore is the region's top city for manufacturing employment with 35,739 industrial workers, down 5 percent over the past year.
