More than two dozen Maryland State Troopers will be working at the Inner Harbor on July Fourth.
The State Police was asked by the City Police Commissioner to help with traffic and crowd control as well as enforcement.
Greg Shipley with the State Police tells WBAL Radio that thirty troopers will be assigned to that area Sunday evening for the festivities.
In addition, the State Police helicopter unit will be providing aerial support.
Shipley says troopers have helped in the past with sporting events at the stadiums and State Police are part of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force.
He says troopers will be able to make arrests on Sunday while working the City. When an arrest is made Shipley says a Baltimore police officer will then handle the processing.
Shipley says State Police will pay the troopers for their time in Baltimore City.
"They are working to make Maryland safe and certainly Baltimore is an important part of that. They will be receiving their regular pay through the Maryland State Police. We are working to keep overtime to a minimum so we don't expect any problems there," says Shipley.
