Baltimore County police shot and killed an armed man Wednesday night after responding to a report of gunfire in Dundalk.

Officers from the Dundalk Precinct were called around 8:30 p.m. to the 2100 block of Larkhall Road, where they saw a man in the window of a home, police said. During the encounter, officers fired their weapons after the suspect took actions that prompted their response, striking the man.

Six officers discharged their firearms, and all were wearing body-worn cameras. The suspect, an adult male, suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured.

A firearm was recovered, according to police. The Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division, which probes fatal police encounters and close calls, is handling the investigation.

The six officers have been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.

Police said the barricade ended around 2 a.m. Thursday, but “residents may continue to notice an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.”
