Sadly, Lodge 4 must advise of the passing of Brother David Lanowitz, on June 6, 2026.

David was born on July 1, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland.  He joined the Baltimore County Police Department on March 1, 1976, at 21 years old. From the beginning, David brought enthusiasm for the work and a deep commitment to protecting and serving his community. He approached his duties with seriousness and dedication, quickly earning a reputation as someone who could be counted on.
Though he valued his time in patrol, it was his assignment to the Training Academy as an instructor that brought him particular fulfillment. There, he shared his knowledge generously, guided new officers with patience and professionalism, and earned the respect and admiration of both his peers and those he helped prepare for duty. His career with the department was cut short due to a work‑related injury, leading to his disability retirement on May 1, 1984, but his service remained a proud and meaningful part of his identity throughout his life.
Outside of his work and family, David enjoyed a wide range of interests that reflected his spirited personality and appreciation for life’s experiences. He loved photography and had a natural eye for capturing moments worth remembering. He found joy in drumming, playing pool, riding motorcycles, and horseback riding—pursuits that gave him a sense of adventure and freedom. His life was rooted in faith, and he deeply valued the fellowship and sense of belonging he found within his church communities.

David passed away at the age of 71, leaving behind a family who miss him dearly.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
