Wife of Brother Thomas Lamb

On June 19, 2023, Retired Officer Jessica Hummel-Lamb unexpectedly passed away.

Jessica joined the Baltimore County Police Department on December 2, 2000, as part of the 111th Recruit Class. Everyone that knew Jessica knew her as compassionate, dependable, reliable, and unwavering in her commitment to public safety, especially to the most vulnerable of populations.

Early on in her career while in field training in Precinct 1/Wilkens (formerly Lansdowne), Officer Lamb was frequently recognized for her consistent progress and achievements. Throughout her time in patrol, she displayed exceptional investigative skills, particularly when investigating sex crimes, and was often called upon to assist detectives or even conduct investigations on her own.

In October 2005, Jessica was made Detective and assigned to the Special Victims Unit (formerly Sex Crimes Unit). Here, she would go on to serve almost the entirety of her career under the Criminal Investigations Bureau in various detective assignments, where she dedicated herself to protecting the innocent and vulnerable from the most heinous crimes.

In March 2010, she was assigned to Crimes Against Children (CACU) and later to the Physical Child Abuse Squad in June 2012. In October 2015, she returned to SVU where she continued her detective work until September 2017 when she joined the North Squad at the Parkville Precinct. Throughout her career, Jessica’s incredible empathy, investigative rigor, and ironclad ethics were evident. She was commended and acknowledged by various supervisors and outside agencies for many noteworthy investigations in Baltimore County.

On January 1, 2021, Jessica retired from BCoPD with 20 years of service, and would continue to serve the community as a Human Trafficking Advocate in York County Pennsylvania.

Jessica was the wife of Officer Tom Lamb of Precinct 7, sister-in-law to Officer Jeff Lamb of Precinct 6, a daughter, a sister, and a dear friend to many, all of whom undoubtedly miss her.

Tom and his family are planning a celebration of life to occur at the end of July, and the details have not been finalized at this time.
